Karla is the co-owner/broker of American Way Realty. She has been a full-time REALTOR® since 1976. She started American Way Realty in 2001 and it has consistently been a top-producing office in the Greater Mankato area.

Karla is a Graduate of the Real Estate Institute and has also achieved the designations of Certified Residential Specialist and Accredited Buyers Representative. Karla is active with the Board of Realtors® and proudly has the distinction of being the first woman to be the President of the local Board of Realtors®. She started her career with the Century 21 system where for 14 consecutive years she received the top-producing award as a Centurian as well as being inducted in the International Hall of Fame. She has served on the local Realtors® Board of Directors and various committees, chairing many of them. For the last several years, Karla has been the top-producing real estate agent in the entire greater Mankato area.

A native of St. James, Minnesota, Karla has lived in Mankato since 1968 with the exception of two years that she lived in Okinawa, Japan. Karla graduated with cum laude honors from Mankato State University and taught elementary school prior to becoming a Realtor.

It seems easy to think about selling your house as a FSBO (For Sale By Owner). And, maybe through word-of-mouth or by the luck of an interested neighbor, you might make that happen. But you are also not casting a wide net to attract potential buyers. A "bidding war" for a seller's property can only happen if there are multiple interested parties. Erik advised that we sell a home at a certain price, confident that it would attract multiple visitors and multiple offers. Literally, within two minutes of the property hitting all the real estate websites there were three scheduled viewings. We could not have coordinated that rush of interest and scheduling if we had taken it on ourselves, without a realtor. But that was just getting the ball rolling. We had more than forty showings over just three days, and Erik wisely suggested we tell all realtors that we were going to have a next-day noon deadline. In the end we had eight offers. Erik identified the most serious of all offers, and his instinct was correct. Yes, the thought of a commission might be a disincentive for some sellers, but it makes no financial sense. By listing the property—and by having a realtor who has been through the process many, many times, as Erik has—we made substantially more than if we had gone the FSBO route. Erik was quick to reply to every text, e-mail, and voicemail (and keep in mind, we weren't his only clients), and we could not have been more satisfied with the way he coordinated everything from beginning to end. From listing to closing was all of 30 days. Great job, Erik!

She was available for questions and showed up at the closing on time. When I listed my home we had an acceptable offer within 4 days. The home closed in less than a month. I called for a realtor, but really feel like I found a friend!

When I decided to purchase my first home, I started by browsing online. I looked at houses listed online, prices, locations, schools, etc. When I began finding homes I thought I’d like to see I contacted Angie to be my realtor and set up times to see a couple homes I thought my family might love. We chatted about my wants/likes, dislikes, deal-breakers, needs, price range, locations, etc. We liked a home, it sold before we decided to offer. Saw some others that looked good online but were completely different in person. I will never forget, when I got discouraged, she said "I will find the perfect home for you, don’t worry. Don’t stress. I will find it." And find it, she did!!! A week or so later she called and asked if I was busy, said she had found what she thought might be perfect, and said I should see it asap. I saw it that day, fell in love, and she helped me EVERY step of the way through the buying process. She remembered every detail I said I needed/wanted, she remembered things I said would be important for each member of our large family, and came through on her promise tenfold! I am forever grateful to her for going above and beyond, being available ANY TIME day or night for my worries and questions, for genuinely caring about my family and our first home purchase. Any question I had, she had the answer to. If she wasn’t sure, she got the answer within hours. She pointed me in directions of different people for different services throughout the process, streamlining EVERYTHING and giving me a HUGE sense of comfort and security that is SO important while making such huge decisions and changes in life and for a family.
